Financial Infrastructure
To improve availability of relevant financial sector infrastructure that will equip the financial sector players and other stakeholders with the ability to meet the needs and aspirations of women and youth.
Women and youth Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises’ access and usage of financial services in Tanzania is limited due to several reasons, including low access and usage of National IDs, connectivity in rural areas (data and energy), weak financial data infrastructure, physical distance to service points and lack of interoperability between merchant points-of-sale and digital wallets.
We advocate to improve the availability of relevant financial sector infrastructures that equip the financial sector players and other stakeholders with the ability to meet the needs and aspirations of women and youth.
To achieve this, we collaborate with relevant stakeholders to increase access and usage of digital financial solutions for women and youth Micro and Small Enterprise merchants. This includes promotion of:
- Acquisition and usage of National IDs and National Identification Numbers (NIN) to formalize businesses.
- Enhancement of credit decisions using credit information systems and alternative data.
- Improvement of payment systems to enable financial service providers (FSPs) and merchants.
- Capacity building and technical support to policymakers, regulators, and FSPs in financial systems’ integration.
- Facilitation of Cash-in/Cash-out (CICO) Agent Network to reach remote areas and serve more women and youth.
